Humanity is at Critical Juncture
We are faced with two very real yet vastly different prospects. The unparalleled achievements over the course of recent decades in one domain after another offer hope of a vast renewal and a golden age for society. In direct opposition to this is the persistence of a constellation of seemingly insurmountable global and personal issues that threaten us as never before. What is required is straightforward as it is profound. Our Global civilization needs a new operating system and a new way of life, and fast.
We are living in prophetic times.
Across cultures, time periods and geographies there is a common story. It is said that there would be a time when dark and nefarious forces would threaten everything that is sacred and essential to life. During this time all will seem lost, the people will feel overwhelmed by the power and enormity of the oppressive forces against them. A Great river will be on the people.
But the river has a purpose and a destination,. It is foretold that at this time a tribe of warriors of light, lovers of wisdom, truth, love and virtue would come together under a common cause, forming a sangha, to protect and defend all that is sacred and essential to life.
Ushering a world and way of being that future generations can be proud of.
The climax foreseen intuitively by the prophets is now our lived experience. Its immanence is not an article of faith; it is a datum of observation and experience.
A mood of universal destruction and renewal has set its mark on our age. This mood makes itself felt everywhere, politically, socially, personally, economically, philosophically and globally. We are living in what the Greeks called Kairos - the perfectly ripe moment, for a “metamorphosis of the gods,” for the transformation of our world view, our way of being, and what we believe we are capable of.
We stand at a moment akin to when Copernicus knocks us off the center of the universe. Our modern world is dying a new one is not yet born. We are in a liminal space.
How did they know?
How did all these different traditions across different time periods have the same vision and story?
Could they see into the future?
Could they time travel?
Maybe, but what all our indigenous and mystical traditions have in common is that they know that underneath all apparent dualities, all forces of nature, all of matter, all of existence and every particle of the universe there is an animating force that brings life into creation. This animating force has been called by many names the Tao, Source, the Buddha Field, Creator, The father, Son and the Holy spirit, the Great Mother, but She is beyond all names and description. But she can be experienced.
She is transcendent embodying every part of nature and particle of creation, and She is immanent, residing within each of us. She permeates life with an inexorable force of love, always working for us. It might hurt, but it is not meant to hurt. It is meant to make us aware of who we really are. Returning us to your natural state.
Our modern science is catching up to our mystical and indigenous traditions. As science has pierced deeper into matter they have discovered a phantasmagorical world. They have discovered an interconnected and interdependent Field of consciousness that is receptive and responsive to our inner state. The basis for the new age movement and the power of manifestation. We live in a holographic universe that mirrors and reflects our inner world, as above so below, as within so without.
What the east calls Maya. A Field that is alive, conscious, that is infinitely wise, magical with its unlimited potentiality to create, with its own will and purpose. A field described by Rumi in his understanding that we are a water droplet containing, sourced by the entirety of the ocean. Described by Blake as the ability to hold infinity in the palm of your hand.
This field, our holographic movie follows an archetypal narrative.
The Archetypal Narrative that orchestrates Reality
You may not know the word, archetype, but you have experienced this narrative.
Birth
When you were conceived you were embedded within the womb, an all encompassing Matrix. There was no separation between you and your surrounding world. If it was a healthy carriage you were in an oceanic bliss with all of your needs being met, all your waste being removed. There was no distinction between self and other, all was one. This is the realm of Neptune from an archetypal perspective.
Then about 9 months later, the outer womb begins to contract, crushing our bodies, sometimes breaking bones, pushing us through the birth canal. We experience a sudden fall from grace and separation from that primal organismic unity. We began our separation from the encompassing matrix. We have no idea of what is going on or if it will ever end. Undergoing highly-charged life-and-death struggle with the contracting uterus. This is the realm of Saturn.
But Saturn, the constrictions, the limitation, has a purpose. They push us through the birth canal until our heads crown, at this point everything we have known and who we were must die, we must undergo a complete annihilation. This is the realm of Pluto.
If it is a healthy birth, this death delivers us onto a new world. We experience a sudden unexpected Global Liberation, which is typically perceived not only as physical birth but also a spiritual birth, with the two mysteriously intermixed. We enter a whole new realm, the realm of Uranus. The self is now fully separate from the matrix from which it was conceived. And the process begins anew.
Story of Humanity
Humanity has followed this archetypal narrative in our 200,000 year evolution. For the vast majority of this time we lived in a co-participation with nature, there was no clear boundary between self, community and nature. We lived in a Neptune state.
We knew that we were only made possible by the earth and her substance, by air that filled us with breath, by the waters quenched our thirst, by the fire that sparked our inspiration and will. We were in conversation with the Great Mother. Meaning and purpose was seen in the flight of birds, in the rustle of winds, in the shapes that falling branches laid across the path.
A core aspect of this time is that when a child was born they were seen as a gift sent from Great Mother, imbued with a set of unique skills, talents and perspectives that were essential for the health and well being of the tribe.
As such when a child was born, they were seen and treated as a gift.
Imagine being born into a world where dozens of eyes and hearts welcomed you into the world, that we were constantly looking to see what inspired you, devoted to teaching you to guide you into your gifts. As you grew into yourself, as you cultivated your skills and talents, as an adult you would share them. Bringing your medicine to your tribe, ensuring the health and well being of your loved ones.
Imagine being seen, understood and appreciated for your unique nature, receiving everything that you needed by sharing what you love. Imagining being supported to step into your truth, to trust your desire, to sing your song.
Some historians refer to this age as the First Affluent Age. After spending a few hours a day securing the basics of life and taking care of camp, most of our time was free to meet our higher needs for connection, intimacy, belonging, competence, mastery, and transcendence. We had an abundance of “leisure” time to rejoice in life.
Imagine that.
The Rise of the Patriarchy,
The birth of our Disease
Then about 12,000 years we began the birth, the advent of agriculture we began to separate ourselves from Nature, from the all encompassing Matrix of creation. We stopped communicating with the world around us. No longer were we a part of the Web of Life, with each being sovereign and free, having equal rights and being equal members of the spiritual round table. Our ancestors began to own, control and manipulate plants and animals and other humans. We placed ourselves as master over our domain and began our endless toil to gain our sustenance by our own two hands.
The circle of life was broken
Then about 6,000 years ago there was a profound desertification that created and expanded the deserts from North Africa, through the middle east, and up into southern Asia. The people of these lands were no longer able to meet their needs from the land. Setting off a chain reaction of large-scale population displacements. These ancestors of ours became nomadic, authoritarian-ruled, patriarchal societies that spread their violent behavior across the known world. Unleashing an aggressive Warrior energy.
Standard protocol by these patriarchal cultures was to kill all the adult males, rape the women and enslave the children. Within a few generations the Great Mother was erased from our collective consciousness and desecrated into her mutated forms.
Shattering the circle of life.
We were no longer a supported part within the web of life.
These violently oppressive patriarchal societies established a hierarchy of power and wealth that enchained most of our ancestors. The cultural norm, a key aspect of the new world view, was an insatiable desire for ever more property, wealth and power, and an insensitivity to pain and suffering.
Ever since then the psychopaths have ruled humanity.
A psychopath is a person blindly driven by an insatiable desire to increase their power and wealth. They are insensitive to their pain and the pain they cause others, lacking empathy, guilt or remorse. They are often superficially charming, arrogant, callous, egocentric, manipulative and incapable of seeing their mistakes. Driven by their selfish interest, willing to do whatever it takes to gain more power.
If we look at recorded His-stroy, from the times of the Ancient Greeks, to the Romans, through the dark and middle ages and now our modern world, we find a hierarchy of power and income inequality where the masses are violently oppressed and the earth is desecrated for the benefit of the very few.
Our Current Lived Experience
Currently the poor are falling further into destitution as millions of jobs are being outsourced or replaced by AI. The middle class is evaporating, shackled by mounting debt and sky rocketing inflation. We have created a fourth economic class that is rapidly expanding, the precariat. A group of workers that piece together a living, on part time work at minimum wage. These are the amazon, the fast food, the call center workers that are finding their precarious living more and more problematic and untenable, not having an occupational identity or narrative to give meaning to their lives.
All of this creates a profound economic insecurity and existential anxiety as most of us have become disposable humans that our economic system masticates in its perpetual growth.
The 1% are increasing their stranglehold over our predatory economic system that is accelerating us towards the 6th mass extinction, the dark and death side of the apocalypse.
Recorded history the last 6,000 years or so have been an intense life and death struggle against this oppressive and violent system, a profound constraining Saturnian time period.
But this struggle has a purpose, has delivered us to our Plutonic period, our head as a civilization is crowing. Our modern world and our modern way of life is dying. The inherent corruption and structural flaws of the patriarchy are being exposed. All that we have known must be annihilated.
This is a good thing.
Yet, this system is so pervasive and persuasive that it seems to leave us no way out. After all how will we make ends meet, how will we fulfill our responsibilities if we don't follow our self interest, trying to get our piece of the pie.
The way out.
Guidance from the Archetypal map

Fear not brave soul, we are at our favorite scene in our holographic movie Planet Earth During the Great Turning.
You know this scene, it usually comes near the end of our most popular movies, when dark and nefarious forces threaten everything that is sacred and essential to life. The main characters seem broken, overwhelmed by the enormity of the forces against them. This is when we are at the edge of our seat, feeling there is no way that the good guys are going to find a way.
This is when Jake Scully, in Avatar, is kicked out of the Na'vi tribe, as the humans and their machines threaten the Tree of Souls. This is when Ken and the corporations have taken over Barbie’s realm. This is when the Machines are at the gates of Zion in the Matrix.
At this point the main character faces a critical choice to either continue a perilous war against the outer enemy, witnessing the destruction of all that they love and cherish or they find the courage to descend into their inner most cave and face their unconscious limiting stories about the world, who they are and what they are capable of, their world view.
If they are able to metabolize their old way of being, they go through a fundamental transformation, evolving their consciousness and worldview, realigning with the mythopoetic, indigenous and archetypal forces that orchestrate reality. They become One with the force, coming to know the Spirit of Pandora. They attune to the pulse of creation. They become enlightened, not as an end state, but a gradual lightening up, letting go of their attachments and aversions, allowing them to be with life as it is, riding the roller coaster of life with ease, grace, playfulness and equanimity.
This gives them the resolve and unshakable courage to do their best, trusting the screen writers, the divine intelligence of the Great Mother, accepting and working with what is out of their control focusing their energy on what they can control, taking daily action to live out their destiny, following their inner authority, trusting life and trusting themselves, responding to life from love and having fun,.
As challenging, confusing and somewhat overwhelming as our situation is, the way out is simple.
Will we continue to be ruled by normal, driven by our self-intrest, by our need for ever more wealth and power, ruled by the disease of our times. Fighting a perils war against the other, whether that's republicans, democrats, those dumb asses on the socials, or will we do the work, The Great Work, to descend into our inner most cave to face, metabolize and integrate our trauma, to free ourselves from our prison of our minds, reclaiming our authenticity and inner authority, responding to life from love.
I believe dear brave souls that we chose to incarnate into the holographic world of planet earth during the great turning to create the world that we know is possible, by engaging in the Great work, to heal the collective and personal trauma that has been inflicted on us.
We are the ones we have been waiting for.
Your part to play is communicated to you moment to moment by your internal guidance system, by your intuitions, inspirations and imaginations, by your gut feelings. The challenge, the genius of our holographic video game is that in these moments our bodies are flooded with fear.
The path, the work is to engage life with clean pain, to stand in the fire of the dragon metabolizing our limiting beliefs into our guides.
Your internal guidance knows everything else after that is a negotiation with fear.

To understand how devoting yourself to the Great Work empowers you to help midwife the death of our modern world and create the fecund soil to birth a new world and a new way of being, taking your righteous place in protecting everything that is sacred and essential to life, I would like to share the story of the imaginal cells.
The imaginal cells.
The story of the imaginal cells begins as a caterpillar. Much like our current society it is completely devoted to consuming, operating as a pioneering species. Once it eats enough and acquires the required reserves it begins to create a cocoon. Within the incubation chamber the caterpillar begins to eat and digest itself into an ooze, a primordial goo for say. When it's almost 100% ooze the imaginal cells come online.
The imaginal cells hold the blueprint for the butterfly. At first the imaginal cells act as discrete separate units. The challenge is that the ooze perceives the imaginal cells as foreign objects, as a disease and begins to attack them. Creating a super toxic environment for the imaginal cells.
The imaginal cells being few in number face overwhelming odds, sorta like dark and nefarious forces threatening everything that is sacred. Their task is simple, to find each other, learn to speak the same language, coming together forming a super organism. If this is accomplished they transform the ooze into a butterfly.
We are those imaginal cells on the leading edge of adoption, following your truth empowers you to download your imaginal cell language, to find the others, and create a super organism, the communities we hunger for, that transforms the ooze of our dying modern world into a butterfly of a new world and a new way of being.
Upgrading our global operating system
and creating a new way of living.
You doing the inner work, becoming an imaginal cell is how we upgrade our global operating system and create a new way of life.
Our new global operating system, our world view or any idea goes viral by first being downloaded by the “innovators”. When about 2.5% of the population downloaded the idea, the early adopters caught on. The early adopters are the ones who are always on the look out for the next breakthrough, the next cool thing. When about 13.5% of the population catch on, the idea has reached a tipping point, the super organism has formed and the idea is destined to take root and become the new normal.
As it becomes the khul thing, the early majority catches on, another 34%, then the late majority another 34% and then the laggers, the last 16% who have no other choice than to jump on ship and become part of the emerging butterfly.
We are living in revolutionary times, evolutionary times. But this revolution is not about toppling corrupt governments or fighting against an oppressive economic system. This revolution, this evolution is an inner one, won by reclaiming our authenticity, expanding our agency, becoming the imaginal cells, by descending into our innermost cave, working with clean pain, riding the Red Dragon in the Apocalypse, supporting the birth and renewal side of the apocalypse.
Our response-ability is to follow our truth, to lean into the fear, working with clean pain. Getting sober to reality, we live in an interconnected and interdependent field that is permeated with the inexorable force of love. Life is difficult. Life might hurt but it's not meant to hurt, it is meant to remind you who you are, grounding you deeper into your witness, strengthen your driver, bring you closer home, and bring your horse driven carriage into coherence.
We are evolving from fighting against life trying to get what we want and avoiding what we don't to engaging life with a true growth mindset, leaning into the uncomfortable situations of life, dancing with the Field, our beloved, metabolizing our limiting thoughts and fears into our guides to live out our destiny.
I have no idea how this is going to turn out, what the next scene on planet earth during the great turning is. What I do know is that we can either be the effect of the world, reacting to life from fear, or do the Great Work to become the cause in our lives, responding to life from love.
Simple, epically challenging.
Step up
So here is where I ask you to step up, for yourself and for our collective survival and evolution.
Humanity is at a critical juncture. Our survival depends on developing a new operating system. The old system is based on fear. The new and ancient operating system is based on love. The amazing part of this shift is that it is a physical one. Our ability to shift between these two states is a muscle. A muscle that is strengthened in our practice of devotion, creating and cultivating a space between stimulus and response.
In this space you are able to override the old operating system, grounding into your witness, into your truth. In this space you are able to harness our higher cognitive realms, your true reason, creativity, emotional intelligence and actual choice to respond to life from love. Taking daily action to make your dreams an embodied reality, downloading your imaginal cell blueprint, becoming the medicine, the change that is required of us.
As above so below as within so without.
Simple. The epic part is actually doing it.
All the answers are within you. A gift of our times is that the time tested practices of meditation and mindfulness are reemerging in our collective consciousness. There are many teachers. Please find one to guide you in the Great Work
